Some Changes at LLB

You may have noticed, I am not hanging around LLB all that often these days.  As the new year dawned, I knew I had to sit back and seriously rethink my commitments--including all the blogging that I do.  When I started LLB, I was in a very different place.  I thought I wanted to go into publishing; I had a much less demanding job; I had a quieter easier paced life; I knew all the good bookshops in my area and could drive to them easily.  Now I have a job that takes so much out of me, plus a two hour commute; I have no regular schedule after work, and a second job to cope with too, no car, and no good bookstores within an easy walking or even metro distance. And I don't want to be in children's book publishing.

So what was a hobby, and a way to explore the wonderful world of picture books has turned into something of a chore.  I doubt your surprised--last year I blogged much less than the first year of LLB, and, though my readership has gone up, my quality has gone down.  All the same, your sweet notes and emails have made me anxious to get back.  So what to do?

Well, for starters: I am only going to publish one review a week, on Tuesdays, usually. This will give me the chance to really focus on the review, and give you all the best information possible. You'll know, when I review something, that its because I really really want to do so. Every month or so, I will also do a round up of other books of interest, with short, one line reviews.

I am also hoping to welcome a guest blogger in the coming months--a mom I went to college with, who is expecting her second girl later this spring. I hope you'll keep reading, and I really am grateful for all the attention you have continued to give the blog over the past couple months. I hope that these changes will really be for the good: better reviews, better books, and a lot more fun.

And speaking of fun...
